About Us
Youth-Driven Sustainability and Cultural Legacy
The UNESCO Belitong Geopark in Indonesia is a unique site recognized for its geological significance and stunning natural beauty. It is not only a geological treasure but also a focal point for research on climate change and the preservation of Satam culture, the traditional heritage of the island’s indigenous people. Local youth are at the forefront of these research initiatives, actively engaging in environmental studies to understand better the effects of climate change on the region’s ecosystems.
They are involved in data collection, awareness campaigns, and developing sustainable tourism and conservation strategies. These young researchers are also dedicated to preserving and promoting Satam culture, working closely with regional cultural experts to document traditional practices and ensure their continuation for future generations. The efforts of Belitung’s youth highlight a collective commitment to safeguarding the island’s natural and cultural heritage, blending scientific inquiry with cultural respect to create a more sustainable and resilient future.
